You're so much more than my little one
With wide eyes to admire parental walls
Like ivy clings and ivy grows
You think there mustn't be a thing these walls don't know
They come in many different shapes and sizes
Taking tiny steps you'll tumble older
Build your hunger pushing bricks bound to fall
You'll find a means and find a voice
You'll begin to question
Just how much to place your trust in some
Who come in many different shapes and sizes
Through time you'll keep changing
With all of my words over your shoulder
When I stop changing
Consider me too far, too gone, too old
If you fear the years as they flow faster
Time is the river it twists you 'round the bend
'Cause life can be both wide and narrow
You must decide the times you swim
Or find something you can hold onto
They come in many different shapes and sizes
Some may stay
Some may drift away
When I'm gone you may meet me in your mirror
As you watch your saplings navigate the undergrowth
Their eyes will seek the lattice that they may soon cling onto
But you mustn't tell them everything we know
And they will one day trust the walls
As they come in many different shapes and sizes
Through time you'll keep changing
With all of my words over your shoulder
When I stop changing
Consider me too far, too gone, too old
When I stop changing
Consider me too far, too gone, too old
